Remembering Angels Among Us

This page is dedicated to poems, prayers and spiritual sayings that have struck a chord in me. I wanted to share them and remember them.

Lava Lamp, Bubbling

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and
laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and
smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick
you  up and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you
teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the
computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles...
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble
when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you
 one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be
when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you
 are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I
won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a
Happy Meal so you can have both toys..
Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story
about how you were born and how much I love you.
Just! for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get
 angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the
porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my
 favorite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you
pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift
 ever given.
I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their
missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their
children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers
who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and
screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore.
And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a
little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him
for nothing, except one more day..............

A Child Loaned.

"I'll lend you for a little time,
A child of mine," He said.
"For you to love while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or only two, or three.
But will you, 'til I call her back,
Take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her say be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories
As solace for your grief."
"I cannot promise she will stay
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lane,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love.
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
And take her back again?"
I fancied that I heard you say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy this child shall bring
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But, should the angels call for her
Much sooner than we planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

Can You be a Mommy if Your Baby's Not With You?

I thought of you and closed my eyes, And prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother, And I know I heard him say:

A mother has a baby, This we know is true.
But, God, can you be a mother, When your baby's not with you?

Yes, you can He replied, With confidence in His voice.
I give many women babies, When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime, And others for a day.
And some I send to feel your womb, But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this God, I want my baby here.
He took a breath and cleared his throat, And then I saw a tear.

I wish that I could show you, What your child is doing today,
If you could see your child smile, With other children who say:

We go to earth and learn our lessons, Of love and life and fear.
My mommy loved me oh so much, I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a mom, Who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly, My mommy set me free.

I miss my mommy oh so much, But I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep, On her pillow's where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek, And whisper in her ear.
"Mommy don't be sad today, I'm your baby and I'm here."

So you see my dear sweet one, Your children are Ok.
Your babies are here in My home, They'll be at heavens gate for you.

So now you see what makes a mother. It's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love you had so much of, Right from the very start.

Though some on earth may not realize you are a mother, until their time is done.

They'll be up here with me one day, And you'll know that you're the best one!

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

by: Amanda L.McCuin

When tomorrow starts without me.

And I’m not there to see.

If the sun should rise and find your eyes.

All filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn’t cry.

The way you did today.

While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me.

As much as I love you, And each time you think of me.

I know you will miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand.

That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand.

And said my place was ready in heaven far above.

And that I would have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But as I turn to walk away a tear fell from my eye.

For all my life, I’d thought, I didn’t want to die.

I had so much to live for, so much yet to do.

It seems almost impossible that I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays, The good ones and the bad.

I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while.

I’d say goodbye and kiss you, and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized, that this could never be.

For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss the tomorrow.

I thought of you and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walk through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home.

When GOD looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne.

He said "This is eternity and all I’ve promised you."

For today life on Earth is past, but here it starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last.

And since each day is the same day, there’s no longing for the past.

But you have been so faithful, so trusting and true.

Though there were times you did something you know you shouldn’t do.

But you have been forgiven, and now at last you are free.

So won’t you take my hand and share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart.

For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.
